Oh yes, I’ve switched my blog to another host, and I’ve lost every damn @#%^^&*! thing!!!!

I’m gonna’ go and sit in a corner for a while. I may cry. lol

    Once upon a time
    in a blog far away
    there once was a writer
    who blogged every day

    He wrote a poem here
    a little essay there
    all about his inner thoughts
    he laid his feelings bare

    You would think that all was well
    his words were tight and clean
    but one day when he changed his server
    They vanished from his screen

      The writer shook his head
      as he tumbled out of bed
      feeling like a dog
      beacuse he’d lost his blog
      worked on it through night
      without any end in sight

      “It’s all gone,” he said
      “Well, stop fucking around with it,” she said.

      A lesson learned, he has to rebuild,
      Oh what a bitter pill.

      Yes, I messed it all up and lost the lot. I’m back now though, and that means I have a whole lot of writing to do. It’s funny now but when I was faced with that blank blog, and all that work lost I wasn’t a happy chap. lol

    i think i will go now to back up everything i ever did
    i guess i should have done that long ago.

    i have once ask wordpress about it – how to backup everything in a click – they had no answer. shame..

      Hi Dhyan,

      It was a shock to me when I lost everything. Boy, was I pissed off! I didn’t know how to back anything up on my blog but I do now lol.

      Because I host WordPress on my own domain, I can use a plugin called WordPress Database Backup. I can set this to backup my blog on a regualr schedule, and have it emailed to my inbox. In theory, I should be able to re-install my blog if anything else goes wrong. I wish I’d known this before it all did. lol

    i wish it too. did you, like me, just wrote everything here or you do have some kind of other place with all your writing?
    i will check again with wordpress if that plug in trick can be done and last – in which format does it save everything ?

      Hey Dhyan,

      I wrote everything on my blog, even though I have Windows LiveWriter where I could have saved everything. Alas, I was too lazy to use it and suffered the loss of all my work. :-(

      I have no idea what format it saves things, Dhyan. All I have is this: “paulandrewrussell_com_1_wp_x37bld_20100206_126.sql.” from the last backup. I think it’s in the server database format, and I have yet to read the instructions on how to re-install it if anything goes wrong.
